Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world
Thanks to ABBA for the great song lyrics and to Audi, DICE, Fox Soccer Channel, HD-DVD, Intel, Logitech, Mio, Nokia, Pentax, Rockstar Games, SV Supreme Vodka, Sprint, Texas Instruments, Vox and Yahoo for making sure we are always rolling in the mow-nay.

There are wild rumors, and there are interesting rumors, but here's a doozy for ya: Xbox Live could soon start vending HD movie content, according to one freshly minted Wordpress blog (take that for what it's worth). According to Shsibae (huh?), over 1000+ hours of video will make its way onto Live for rent at about $4 a go (purchase price isn't stated). Hard to imagine Xbox 360 doing what all the other companies couldn't or haven't (we're looking at you TiVo, Netflix, iTV, etc.), but then again they did start up with that Xbox Live music video thing last year. Seriously though, what a coup would that be if Microsoft swooped in to make the Xbox 360 the premier digital content hub -- with or without HD DVD -- right underneath Sony's nose at the eve of their PlayStation 3 launch? We just hope Microsoft would have a larger drive waiting in the wings if this one turns up roses though, our 20GB is already filled with game demos.&nb...

Although Netflix certainly set the precedent with its online movie rental biz, has vowed to support HD DVD and Blu-ray formats, and seems to have an on-again / off-again relationship with downloadable rentals, Blockbuster is busting out a feature that Netflix isn't likely to soon match. Under the newly-unveiled "Total Access" plan, customers will not only be able to return all movies received in the mail to a brick-and-mortar location, but they'll receive "a free in-store movie rental" for their cooperation. The company is hoping to break the 2 million member mark by year's end, and also reported that customers who opt to return their flicks in-store should receive their next movie mailing about "a day faster than if they had returned it through the mail." While we're not sure if every single in-store return will yield yet another free rental (or if it's another "one per month" deal), we're not going to grumble over anything gratis. ...

If you recall, yesterday Microsoft released the latest update for the 360, this was the long awaited update that added 1080p capabilities to the console.
After a day of testing there are some particular strange things going on. People on the AVS forum are reporting that 1080p is not working with component or VGA cables on the Sony XBR2/XBR3 line of HDTVs, which are touted as some of the better 1080p HDTVs out. Also, before I get flamed, the XBR series can support 1080p over said cable, according to the manual.
We presume Microsoft just dropped the ball and fucked something up, but it is nice to think it was done purposely to spite Sony and the PS3. Read the full complaint after the jump.

Something fishy is going on with the 360's dashboard update from yesterday. Sony's XBR2/XBR3 line of televisions are pretty universally regarded as top of the line when it comes to 1080p displays, but despite that, the 360 will not display 1080p resolution, either with comp...
